Thought you might be interested in how Nottingham looked 35 years ago.  Makes me feel VERY old to realize I filmed it.  Sorry about video quality Super 8 was good in its day, but a bit low res now.

Dave.

Wow.... where do I start.

Theres so many places on that youtube video that are no longer there, or at the least, has changed so dramatically! Many factories shown at the end have now been flattened, Trinity Square car park is gone, and shops have been built on the land.  I can see I am going to have to go with my camera and try to get similar shots of how it looks now... Smiley

Thanks so much for posting it Smiley

thumbup Super 8 has a quality all of it's own... this is a superb record of how things were in Nottingham way before I ever came here...

... could do with some David Bowie/Led Zeplin/Rolling Stones as background music ohyeah but I guess I can add those in myself (I know... copyright).

yeah, its a shame that music of the era cannot be added, it would give an already interesting video extra nostalgic appeal Smiley

Hmmmmm!

Never even thought of that.  Too busy making the original copy to digital video and then editing out the personal stuff.  Pics of family etc.  Original film is over 3/4 of an hour long and includes footage of Southwell, Gedling church,  (I was married there).  Tried to leave out any really detailed identifying stuff.  Don't want to become another Google street view! Grin

I edit all my video with a program called Pinnacle Studio  12.1.  Pretty happy with it.  It contains an assortment of none copyright background music that you can add to your videos.  Fairly nondescript stuff but inoffensive like elevator music.

Feel welcome to change it for your own use if you want to.

Got to be careful what you upload to YouTube as the copyright police would probably be on it pretty quick if you used any albums as background.

Just thinking....  You might want to make a note of my Youtube name "Sollylab"  (Comes from my Black Lab' Solomon)  I have one or two more videos of Nottingham, Chatsworth House etc.  Hoping to post some HD video of the Atlanta Highland games this past Saturday when I have rendered it etc,  Long upload, those HD files get big real quick.

That would save me having to bore you with keep posting links to the videos.

The copyright of those videos is yours and should stay yours... I hope people link to them and not copy them for their own credit.

Well, if people copy them for their own credit there's not much I can do about it.

I guess that is a just a risk you take when you post anything in a public forum like YouTube.

Unless you have a connection to Nottingham they may not even be very interesting to the majority.

I know people rip others stuff off and credit themselves all too often Sad  But I would hope that people here would always ask the originator BEFORE they copied/changed something that belongs to someone else, and  then include the originator in the credits Smiley

And as to the interest side, maybe theres enough old fashion and transport for it to be interesting to those outside Nottingham too Smiley  Personally I would still like it, it sort of reminds me of the old 1970s TV shows like "The Professionals" etc, seeing the people/cars etc
