I have a Canon FTB 35mm camera.  Purchased in 1973 for about $350.  A lot of money in the dollars of those days.

Came with a 50mm lens and I later purchased a 28mm wide angle lens.  Still works as well as the day I bought it but I haven't used it in a while.

Would it be worth anything today do you think?

Probably couldn't bring myself to part with it anyway.  Just curious.

Hmmm... confused Googled it but can't see how many megapixels it is... must be a lot 'cos it takes mighty fine photo's (esp the 2nd one in the Google images search http://images.google.com/images?q=Canon%20FTB%2035mm&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-ContextMenu&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GZEZ_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi )

I'd hang on to it unless it means nothing to you... it's a facinating piece of engineering thumbup

Erm, Hedge... I thought you said it was the person behind the camera that mattered... I really can't see what you like about that photo Wink

It looks like the price of many film cameras is really low at the moment. I know of people bidding on old cameras with the lenses, so they can have the lens, the actual old camera body is just an inconvenience... shame really Sad

Dave, on our trip to New York in August, we visited a brilliant camera shop. They have one for sale by the looks of it selling for $279 (I would assume + shipping and tax?)

$279 eh?

No, I'll probably never sell it.  As others have said it is a great piece of machinery and the resolution is way above ten mpixel.  Smiley

Those things were built like a tank.  Really quite heavy compared to the plastic of today.  My kids will probably get it when I expire and they won't think its worth a dime.  Not digital, you see. Cry

BTW.  Be careful of some of those NY camera stores.  There are some horror stories floating around the net.  Even if I wanted to sell to one of them I would want the cash in my hot little hand before I let go of my camera.

Yeah Ild heard problems with some of the stores there. When we were there the exchange rate wasn't very good, so I didn't buy anything. But BH is a huge well known place and has to be seen to be believed.  I was stunned to see so much equipment, some people could spend all day looking and trying stuff in there

Some are o-k if you go through something like Amazon.  I think they weed out the bad ones.  Bought my Canon Vixia HD camcorder through Amazon a few months ago.  It actually came from a camera store in NY.  It was a great price and has been wonderful.  I love it.  Even takes stills to an SD card but only at 3.1 megapixel.  Not the best in that department but o-k for a quick snap.  The HD tv is great 1080 * 1440 or some such number.  Looks sharp as a razor on TV but very demanding of processor power for editing.  Took it to the Highland games in Atlanta today.  Got 45 minutes of raw video.  Got some editing to do now.  Rain spoilt things a bit but still got some decent photos.  Will post them when I am more awake.
