I am the Ballmer Peak in action

In light of the recent attacks on Twitter leading to what could have been compromising information, may I take this opportunity to remind everybody of some good on-line security practices:

1) Passwords should not be dictionary words

2) Passwords should be as complex as possible - ideally long, alpha-numeric, with capitals and symbols thrown in for good measure

3) Passwords should not be "easily guessable" - by that I mean (just as an example) on this website it should not be the make/model of your camera etc.

4) Make sure that your email address (the one to which your password reset link or new password will be emailed) is current and active

5) Obviously, never give your passwords out to ANYBODY - there are no friends in security.

6) Do not use the same password for everything

I realise that these rules (or I should say guidelines) are a pain and that most won't follow them (certainly not all of them) but I still feel I should give a gentle reminder Smiley
