26 Gigapixel Photo

Quote from: photographyblog.com
A new, 26-gigapixel panoramic image of Dresden, Germany, is now the world’s largest-resolution photograph. Taken from the rooftop of the “Haus der Presse” building, the giant panorama is made up of 1,665 individual shots captured with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera and a 400mm lens

I bet that shot takes AGES to load up and view Smiley
But its astounding what can be done with cameras today.

All very nice but the storage and processing requirements are getting a bit crazy.  I'm needing a new computer to process my HD video.  My laptop does it but it is Slooooow when it comes to rendering.  I'm hanging my nose over a core I7 Desktop with 10 or 12 gig of memory and a 1 gig video card.  Just got to persuade the wife that this is vitally necessary. Wink

Just went up to the Smoky mountains on the Tennessee / North Carolina line.  Got some nice shots with my Canon Vixia HD 30 video camera.  Only 3.1 MP on the still function but they don't look too bad IMHO.

I'll upload 'em. Let me know what you think.

The photos are lovely. Plenty clear enough to say they come from a video unit.

Looks like a really nice, peaceful place to visit. Is it as unspoilt as it looks?
