I've just been asked to recommend a compact camera & I was having a look thru'... Nikon have 12 to choose from in their 2009 range but Canon have 21 current models of compact!!!... that's rediculous... I've hardly got the time to read half of the reviews never mind compare them all. With so much choice I assume they think that most people choose a camera on it's looks, brand & resolution/zoom rather than it's performance... no wonder we're still in a pixel race!

I think you have a valid point there. There are so many compact cameras out there, some in really cute colours too, one to match each outfit Wink Many people (including me) wouldnt know where to start looking when it comes to compact cameras, it almost seems as tho they are a fashion accessory.
I know after one evening of using hubbys fuji point n shoot (because I'm a "scaredy-cat" with heights, and I didnt want to look while I was taking photos while we were high on top of a building we swapped cameras), I prefer to use my daughters Canon point and shoot over the fuji, even though the fuji has more megapixels.

(but I still prefer my lovely Oly over both Smiley )
