I have my nice variable ND filter for my main lens, but the other lenses are different filter sizes. I get confused with stepping rings.

If my filter size is 67 and the other lens I would like to use the filter on is 55, what stepping ring would I need?

My apologies if this is a dumb question Smiley

your filter is 67mm and the lens is threaded for a 55mm filter, so you need a 55-67mm step up ring - eg

Quote
It allows using 67mm filters or lens attachments on your digital camera / camcorder with 55mm filter thread.

to put a 55mm filter on a 67mm camera lens you would need the other way round - ie a step down ring, but then the edges of the filter would possibly vignette the picture by blocking the light path near the edges.

Thanks again Grendel... I thought it was possibly a step up ring, but as I've never had the need for one before, I thought it best to check Smiley
